Hey y’all, just left our sixth stop – Nashville! What a place! From the bright lights of broadway to the colourful street art along 11th Avenue, we had an absolute blast!
We arrived in Nashville from Miami and the temperature was slightly lower than what we’d been used to back in Florida, but not freezing which is always a bonus! We checked in to our first hotel (one night stay in a motel to save money). As it was a Saturday night we headed straight to broadway, our Uber driver recommended a place called Martin’s BBQ and as we were both starving we made a beeline directly for the restaurant. No disappointment here – the food was incredible and well worth the wait (everywhere in Nashville is rammed over the weekend)! After a very yummy dinner of baby-back ribs and pork brisket, we walked back to the main strip of bars stopping in Honky Tonk Central which is known to be one of the most popular Bars along Broadway. Three floors of live music, each with its own bar. We walked through all three floors to see which best suited our taste. We ended up stopping on the top floor, however the musicians were very close to change over so the music stopped shortly after we arrived. We walked back down to the first floor and waited for the next band – they were brilliant! After spending the majority of the evening in the Honky Tonk, we headed back to our hotel.
Sunday – the weather was much nicer, the sun was out and it was around 20 degrees! Checked into our new hotel before wandering back to Broadway. Lunch at a bar called Mellow Mushroom whilst listening to an acoustic set, they were pretty good! Our waiter was very friendly and also very interested to hear about our trip so far and our plans for the next two months! The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring Nashville and it’s distinct musical culture – so so different to the states we have visited thus far. We then headed back to the hotel for dinner and watched the NBA All-Star game!
Monday – lazy morning before lunch at The Stillery, we indulged in Mac’n’cheese and Marcus also had the ‘Nashville hot’ wings (which were VERY HOT), and of course a couple of local beers. The day also involved a bit more exploring – we went to see some of the famous street art in Nashville including the Wings in the Gulch and also the colourful wall nearby. We wandered past the Museum of Country Music before heading back to Broadway to spend the afternoon tasting the local beer and listening to more live music. Across the duration of the afternoon we went to multiple bars, including Nudies, Tootsies, Whisky Row and Robert’s Western World! What a fantastic afternoon/evening, getting a taste of southern culture and more specifically music city!
Tuesday – our final morning in Nashville! Due to the time of our flight we spent the majority of the morning at the hotel getting ready to head off to the airport! After a short Uber back to the airport we were ready to head to our next stop – Denver, Colorado! Updates to follow…🏔⛷❄️
